In the Spotlight- Nathan Hall

Here at Stylie we have the opportunity of meeting so many talented professionals in the beauty industry. We can’t just keep all this talent to ourselves, so we want to share it with all of you! Here is our way of shining the spotlight on a few of these amazing individuals.

Your Beauty Industry History

We want to know why you love what you do.

What inspired you to choose this career?
I started as a massage and skin care therapist moving into the nail program at my school. Once I started in nails I didn’t think I could be any good at it but I gave it my best anyway. Turns out that I actually love being a nail tech more than anything. It lets my creativity flow and my passion to focus on on making works of art on clients fingers.
What’s the best part of your job?
As a nail technician I loved when clients came in and told me to do “whatever”. Those always turned out to be my best work

Your Special Sauce

We want to know why clients come to you.

What are your specialties and favorite services to provide?
I love performing encapsulated stilleto nails! They are so much fun and I get to be the most creative. When I teach them to my students everyone’s eyes are glued to what I’m doing.
Do you have any best practices or tips you’d like to share with our community?
Practice, practice, practice and never stop learning! Always look at the new trends and stay current!

Share Your Work!

Let’s see what you’ve got!

What are some of your all-time favorite client pieces you’ve done thus far?
The full set of nails I did for 2016 nails magazine cover tech competition was my favorite. Although I did not win my work still got featured! I encapsulated feathers into acrylic and created a dream catcher design on top of the nail.

Your #inspo

What makes you tick?

What is some of the best advice you’ve been given during your career?

Confidence. Someone once told me to stay confident. Even if you don’t feel it, portray it. If you aren’t confident your clients will notice and your work will suffer.

Who in the industry inspires you? Why?

As an educator at Sunstate Academy, my biggest inspiration is Suzy from nail career education. The way she teaches nails inspires me everyday to work hard and be better.

If you had any advice for a new hairstylist, what would it be?

Don’t give up, practice, and stay confident.

Anything else you’d like to add?

Teaching the nail program at Sunstate Academy has given me a new view on the industry, seeing students coming through and learning a new trade and leaving as amazing licensed professionals has been the most fulfilling and enjoyable part of my career. I feel accomplished after every student graduates and I am so proud of how far they have come.
